I cannot think of another location that Thanksgiving serves best. We live with thanks everyday for the beauty of the island, for the strength of the people to keep it that way, no matter what may try to change it … and for the island family and atmosphere that we are blessed with daily. Happy Thanksgiving all.
– Angela Crummett
When the beaches are most beautiful in the fall, they are empty. They are ours.

The views, the briny smell in the air; the ever-present, awe-inspiring ocean; but most of all, the people.

A terrific tradition called the Turkey Bowl. Held each Thanksgiving Day at 10 a.m. in the park next to Rosenberg School called Adoue Park. (Galveston) Forty-plus local citizens, extended family, ages baby to senior citizens, gather to play flag football. It’s been my pleasure to attend for 10 years. Kathy Tiernan and Peaches Kempner were the organizers years and years ago and still are involved.

The beauty of the water, the tall, graceful palm trees, the beautiful fragrant oleanders and other colorful island flowers. But most of all, the heart and resilience of the people.
