The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce honored recipients of the inaugural George P. Mitchell Regional Entrepreneurs of the Year at an awards celebration June 10 at the Galveston Island Convention Center. The awards program was developed to acknowledge outstanding achievement by area businesses. This year’s recipients were Ryanne Duzich Culberson and Rosmond Duzich Thormahlen, owners of Farley Girls; and Dennis Byrd, CEO of Island Famous. Cera Farringer and Carl Jacob Jr., members of the Ball High School Incubator Program, received awards for the development of their own company, Social Blender, which combines multiple social media platforms into one feed. Trysten Pearson and Nathaniel Twohatchett were recognized as winners of Lemonade Day Galveston County 2016. The students from Odyssey Academy raised $1,500 for epilepsy awareness.
