We asked on Facebook: What’s one beachside activity you plan to do a lot of this year? Do you have a favorite beach?
I pack a picnic and ride my bike to the public beach access behind Palisade Palms to enjoy a beachside escape. I usually tote a Mason jar with juice or tea and after I finish that off, I make a beach wildflower arrangement to tote back home with me.

I love Sunny Beach. Just taking in the day, getting in early to the beach, with the sounds of the seagulls screaming, the water rushing in and out, the smell of the saltwater mingled with the smokiness of a barbecue pit. Kids squealing with laughter — music of every genre. This is my favorite kind of beach day.

Sitting on the beach letting the warm wind blow around me while listening to the waves and seagulls calling, watching children play for the first time in the Gulf waters.

A relaxing meal with my bride of 47 years at Jimmy’s on the Pier! Love sitting outside looking at the water and watching the people catching fish.

Camping at Jamaica Beach RV resort, getting a shrimp po’boy and taking it to the beach to eat with my hubby. Then we watch folks trying to put up their umbrellas without bending the poles. Yeah, we are weird like that.

Morning run on the beach! The sound of the waves and seagulls, the feel of the early morning wind blowing sets the tone for a beautiful day. The beach is always calling for this girl!

I love walking on the beaches in Galveston looking for treasures, shells, sea beads, driftwood, sea glass, possibly a Spanish coin. Always a surprise.

I plan to try the helicopter ride at Stewart Beach this year, with my daughter. We also love sitting on the balcony at Murdochs, enjoying an ice cream and watching the water and the ships on the horizon.
