Each month, Coast Monthly visits with some of the most charming people on the Texas Coast to chat about their style.
By day, League City resident Patricia Parker wears a white lab coat and comfortable shoes as she examines and operates on furry patients at her Clear Creek Animal Hospital in Seabrook.
But after work and into the night, Parker puts her bling on.
“Clients will approach me and say, ‘Oh, I didn’t recognize you,’” said Parker, who loves rhinestones, glitter and just about anything that sparkles.
Parker has been a practicing veterinarian since 1985.
An avid angler, dancer and golfer — she has won awards in all those activities — Parker is looking forward to retirement and perhaps the purchase of a beach house in Galveston where she can cast her rod and reel into the coastal waters at her leisure, she said. She calls her fashion style glamorous and will wear anything with bling, no matter the season.
Turquoise necklace and bracelet: My mother bought this for me to wear to my 20th veterinarian school reunion. I love the coastal fish design.
Silver tray: This is for winning second place for total weight of redfish and trout in 2012 at the Redfish Rodeo fishing tournament. I’ve been fishing with them for 18 years and I never miss it — it’s my therapy.
Jacket: I love the rhinestones and pearls, the embroidery with silver thread, and wear this to many events. At work, I’m in a lab coat, but when I go out, I’m wearing bling.
Boots: I wear these Helen’s Heart boots a lot, and they are so comfortable. I’ve walked all over the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo grounds in these. I’m also good at country-western dancing.
Belt: After a long day of volunteering with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where I work with the animals, I change into my rodeo outfit that includes this belt.
Hat: This is my Sisters Helping Sisters hat that I wear when I fish that tournament. Since it’s an exclusive female event, it has a girly rhinestone clip.
Golf bag: When I go golfing, this is my bag for score cards, pens, pencils, lipstick and sunglasses. Golf relaxes me and gets me out on beautiful green courses.
