The Rotary Club of Galveston hosted its ninth annual Crawfish Boil on April 14 at Moody Gardens under the big white tent. Presented by the Dr. Leon Bromberg Charitable Trust Fund, this fun, family event featured live zydeco music by Mustang and His Two-Steppin’ Zydeco Band, a crawfish-eating contest, dance contest and raffle. The Lighthouse Charity Cooking Team, under the direction of Scott Gordon, once again prepared heaping plates of either Cajun-spicy crawfish, specially seasoned hot-boiled shrimp and, new this year, blackened red snapper with all the trimmings. Proceeds from this event go to the club’s Galveston Rotary Foundation Inc., which provides funding/grants to many local community organizations dedicated to improving the health, education and welfare of Galveston’s residents and community.
