Sydney Sivy and Mitchell (Mitch) Elliott first met during high school in Galveston and dated throughout college. Both graduated from Texas State University in 2019, magna cum laude. They were engaged in January 2020. Linda Sivy, the bride-to-be’s mother, and aunts Jennie and Anna Latham hosted a beautiful Mardi Gras-themed shower at the Diamond Beach Resort on the island. The groom’s parents, Kirk and Theresa Elliott, also hosted a fun and toast-filled rehearsal dinner at the Pelican Club.
Sydney and Mitch wed on March 27, 2021, which was their seventh anniversary as a couple. They were married at the Sealy Mansion, a long-standing tradition of the groom’s family. They exchanged vows in the Gold Room, where many relatives also have celebrated milestone events. Their family and friends enjoyed the afternoon dancing and celebrating the couple.
The bride’s wedding gown was exquisite and her bouquet of magnolias held special meaning of her family’s tradition as well. Her reception gown also was a stunning show-stopper. The couple’s honeymoon started at the Tremont House and took them to Cancun, where they explored the beautiful cenotes and Mayan ruins and enjoyed the beaches around Isla Mujeres.
The couple now work and reside in Canyon Lake with their two dogs, Otis and Bella, and their pet tortoise, Testy.
