Photographer and artist Joey Quiroga explores the beauty of the upper Texas coast
The Colonel Paddlewheel Boat is a fixture on Offatts Bayou in Galveston, where it offers cruises year-round from Moody Gardens. The authentic replica of an 1800s-style paddlewheel holds up to 800 passengers.
The Colonel Paddlewheel is named after Col. William Lewis Moody Sr., an American entrepreneur who founded the Moody dynasty in Galveston.
Passengers can sightsee from the triple-deck sternwheeler either from the open-air promenade deck or the two dining venues — the Galveston Room or the Texas Room. Reservations are required for dinner cruises, but not for day cruises.
